Have you ever been bothered about the chalk powder? The chalk powder may fly anywhere, and the substance in it, is not good for health. The Xin-Xing(新興) junior high school students (Shao-Ting Wei (魏少亭), Yu-Rou He (何羽柔), Ya-Ting Wang (王雅婷), Zi-Bin Wang(王子彬)) those who in the elite classroom said. They put water and calcium sulfate into the egg shells in order to make the environment chalk. This invent is as good as the traditional chalk which are made by calcium carbonate. In the future, we want to change the composition of the chalk into flour or potato flour, which we could eat, and our health would not be injured. In addition to, it is good for the environment, the director said.
We can not deny that the chalk dust which is a big problem. As we can see the color of an egg shell is the same as normal chalk. Could it be possible to use the egg shell instead of the normal chalk’s material? Those students said. “We can take advantage of the egg that the egg shell chalk’s powder is heavier than normal chalk’s powder”. Student Yu-Rou He said. “We can grind five gram’s powder with an egg. And the key point is the powder which may influence the quality of the chalk. Therefore, the powder of the chalk is related to quality of writing. The Students said.
The researchers not only have to change the color of the chalk but also have to concern about the environment’s problems. For that reason, they decided to find the color which is from foods. For instance, the resource of green chalk is come from spinach juice, red chalk is made of tomato juice and yellow chalk is extracted from ginger etc. “For this research, we spent almost half years to stay in the market even more to stay in the lab.” The students who made this experiment said. However, they think the hardier thing in this research is to peel the membrane which in the egg than find the egg’s shell. That because, if you do not peel the egg’s membrane as clean as you can, the chalk is easily to smell stinking when you made it.
